My Video stutters and freezes, what’s wrong?

9 times out of 10, problems with the video quality are caused by bandwidth constraints.  To produce the best possible experience for fans tuning in from all sorts of different connection types on various different types of systems, GrandStadium.TV uses a cross-platform Flash video stream.  This stream requires a persistent 600Kbps download connection speed.

If this connection becomes burdened, the video quality will suffer in a way that may cause the image to stutter or pixilated momentarily.  Primary factors that affect bandwidth include but are not limited to:

  • Shared Connections (such as schools, hotspots and homes with multiple computers sharing one internet connection)
  • File Downloads
  • System Updates (Windows machines periodically download system updates automatically)

The other thing that can affect your video playback is your browser and Flash configuration.

To test your connection speed and browser configuration, visit our Test page

Can I watch an event from a public location such as a school, hotel or WiFi Hotspot?

Wireless hotspots are everywhere these days… most promising high speed internet connections that should be more than capable of handling an event from GrandStadium.TV.  However, it’s important to remember that you are sharing that connection with everybody else within range of the hotspot and sometimes with even more people connected from other locations.

For this reason, wireless hotspots are not officially supported by GrandStadium.TV.  We recommend a dedicated internet connection for a glitch-free experience.  It is possible that you will be able to use one to experience a game with absolutely no problems, but this is purely a “Use at your own risk” situation.

The same applies for other aggregated connections such as schools and hotels.  It’s important to remember that you will be sharing that connection with everybody else in the building.  So, while your school may have a connection capable of handling the event, if multiple people or multiple rooms sign on at the same time the internet connection will become strained and the video performance for ALL of the viewers within the building may suffer.
